Cheryl's Dried Cherries
Nesco Dehydrator 21-24 hours
From Cheryl:
Blanch (quickly) stem on cherries in water that you've brought to a rolling boil then backed off. Only keep them in the water for one minute. Take out and drain, rinse with cold water and pit and remove the stems. Put cherries on the trays, skin side down. Set the dehydrator at 125 and let dry until dry but still tacky, 15-18 hrs.) remove them and place on new clean tray and reduce the heat until about 115-120 for another 6-8 hrs.
I'll take out some at the "dried" fruit stage for munching but these have to be kept in the freezer for any sort of long term storage. The dehydrated ones if put in the proper packaging can last years.
